About the game
Mahjong Solitaire is a tile-matching puzzle built from a layered arrangement of Mahjong tiles. Remove pairs of free, unblocked tiles to dismantle the whole structure.
How to play
Click two identical, free tiles (with no tile on top and at least one open side) to remove them. Clear the board by matching every pair.
Tips & strategy
['Prioritize tiles that unblock many others, especially the top.', 'Avoid removing a pair that frees nothing.', 'Match from the highest layers downward.']
Advanced guide
Mahjong Solitaire is about ordering. Always clear top-layer and edge tiles first, since they gate everything beneath. Resist matching a convenient pair if it leaves a deeply buried tile with no future access - plan the unblocking sequence instead of grabbing the obvious match.
History & origins
Loosely inspired by the four-player game of Mahjong, the solitaire version became a 1980s computer phenomenon.
