About the game
Pool (8-ball) is a cue-sport simulation: pot your group of balls - solids or stripes - and then legally sink the 8-ball to win, all with angle and power control.
How to play
Aim with the cue and set power to strike the cue ball into your group. Pot them all, then pocket the 8-ball in a called pocket to win.
Tips & strategy
['Plan position, not just the pot - leave the cue ball well placed.', "Use spin to control the cue ball's path.", 'Avoid scratching (pocketing the cue ball).']
Advanced guide
Pool is a game of position. Don't just plan the pot - plan where the cue ball ends up so your next shot is easy. Control power and use a little spin to avoid scratches, and never rush the 8-ball: a careless final pot can hand your opponent the win.
History & origins
Pool descends from 15th-century lawn games and is now a worldwide pub and pro sport.
